St. Patrick's R.C. ChurchMass BookThis past month (November) the Bulletin has been announcing that the "Mass Book" is open. Many Parishioners understand and take advantage of this simple statement. Others may wonder have questions about it's meaning and it's importance. The Mass Book schedules and reserves Masses to be offered in prayer for our deceased. The Church has always had a tradition and an obligation of offering prayers for the dead. We are all on a journey towards Christ and the reserved place that awaits us in his heavenly home. We strive to walk this earth with Jesus. But the way is sometimes difficult and we find ourselves straying off the narrow path that leads directly to Gates of Heaven. To aid those of us in need, the Lord has blessed us with the gift of Purgatory. Purgatory cleans us of the stains of sin, and where our last attachments to sin are severed so that we can attain the purity necessary to enter Heaven. Prayers and Masses for the dead are important for helping those in purgatory move on to live in the full prescence of God in Heaven Please take the time to stop by the Rectory and schedule a Mass for your departed loved ones. The Mass Book fills very quickly, so do not delay. |
