If you are a parent or caregiver for a youngster ages 1 1/2 to 3, join us
at Playtime with Mommy
Dads, grandparents, etc. also more than welcome. The program is
held Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 AM and Thursdays from 1-2 PM.

Do you have an old cell phone at home collecting dust? Your donation
of used cell phones can benefit our community, our environment and our
parish. Just look for our cell phone disposal boxes located at the
church exits. Batteries, chargers and other wireless accessories may also
be donated.

St Patrick's of Smithtown
Extraordinary Ministers
(Taken from the 2002
St. Patrick's 50th Anniversary Journal)
The above quote is how Fran Germano described her work as an
Extraordinary Minister. She is one of 139 dedicated men and
women, young and old, from all stations of life, who distributes the
Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus the Christ to our Church community.
This ministry began in our parish in 1976 with 12 lay people assisting
priests in the distribution of the Eucharist. Today, St. Patrick's
Extraordinary Ministers continue to dispense Communion when the number
of communicants demands and when a priest is unavailable. An
Extraordinary Minister must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
that has the devotion and the time to administer to the community
regularyly. He or she must be a person of good character and
reputation.
A total of 32 Extraordinary Ministers distribute the Eucharist at local
nursing homes and to the homebound. This ministry offers comfort
and companionship. It incorporates sharing faith, understanding
and patience.
An Extraordinary Minister brings the presence of Christ through
spirituality and the Eucharist. It is a ministry that involves
one-on-one human interaction. It may be looking into the eyes of
a child or holding the hand of someone who is sick. It is a
ministry of caring and sharing.

The 4th Weekend of the Month
Please recycle your bottle and cans and donate the money to the worthy cause of
helping mothers and their babies in need. Look for the Pink Baby Bottle
banks at the church exits.
The first weekend of the month, we will have the offering
for the Hungry and homeless. Please look for the Hungry & Homeless
boxes at the church exits and be generous in sharing God’ blessings.
