St Patrick's of Smithtown

Social Ministries

  • Knights of Columbus
    • The purpose of the Knights of Columbus is to bring Catholic gentelmen together in a fraternal atmosphere for God, Church and country, and to assist, whenever possible, people in distress.  Members of the Holy Mother Mary Council No.3958 meet twice each month at the Council House at 130 Lake Avenue in Nesconset.  The council's many activities include sponsoring the annual Memorial Day Parade in Smithtown, holding fund raisers for families in neeed, sponsoring the Bishop's Smithtown Right to Life march and Breakfast, giving monetary contributions to seminarians, delivering food to St. John of God and St. Joseph parishes and much more.

  • Columbiettes
    • Members of the Holy Mother Mary Columbiettes give of their time, talent and treasure in order to give spiritual and material support to their brother Knights, and to their community.  Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month.  Annual fund raisers (including a spaghetti dinner, international dinner, Christmas luncheon, and card party) enable the Columbiettes to support more than 14 charities.   Spiritual activities of the Columbiettes include a Living Rosary, a Memorial Mass, an Advent Service, the Stations of the Cross and the May Crowning.

  • Ancient Order of Hibernians
    • An Irish, Catholic organization committed to its religion and heritage.  Functions include fund raising for charitable organizations, educational contest, and socials.

  • Catholic Daughters
    • St. Patrick's is home to the Catholic Daughters Court Queen of the Universe #1702.  Members participate in religiious, charitable and educational works in keeping with their motto: "Unity and Charity."  The court meets every third Monday evening.  In addition to activities on national and state levels, St Patick's Catholic Daughters hold several fund raisers, including a card party and auction, an Advent wreath sale, and the Mother's Day flower sale.  These events help support a variety of charities.  Through the presence of the Spirit in their lives, members dedicated themselves to the work of the organization to foster "Unity and "Charity" amoung all men and women through the love of God.

  • Pro-Life Ministry
    • St. Patrick's Pro-Life Family works to promote the message of the sacredness of human life.  The executive board and members meet on the last Tuesday of each month.  On the third Tuesday of the month, the Pro-Life Family participates in a Holy Hour of Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.  Many members also gather peacefully in front of the Planned Parenthood facility on Maple Avenue on Wednesday mornings, between 7 AM and 11 AM to pray the Rosary for an end to abortion.  The ministry also sponsors several annual events, such as a Communion Breakfast and sponsorship of a bus trip to the annual March for Life in Washington D.C.  Many young parishioners participate in "Kids for Life" which meets every First Friday.

  • Prison Ministry
    • All of us face challenges every day and manage to overcome them.  We do this through our faith and the help of our family and friends.&nsp; What if these connections were no longer there for you?  To whom would you turn
These are the questions that formerly incarcerated persons must face as they re-enter society.  Fortunately, Philemon Fellowship of Beginning a New Life, Inc. has an established program for those who been convicted and, like Jesus on the cross, suffer for a compassionate voice.

Rainbows and Spectrum

Today in the United States, there are more than 20 million children living in a single parent family - more than that if you include those children in a step-family.  That is 1 in every 3 in our classrooms!  In time to come many more children will have had to cope with the anguish of losing one of their parents through death, divorce or being born out of wedlock.

Children learn from their hearts upward; thus, if a child hurts emotionally, he/she often has difficulty in school.  In addition, statistics already show that a vast majority of these grieving children are turning to drugs, alcohol and even suicide as a means of coping.

Through the support group, we hope to assist the child in expressing and understanding his/her feelings, feel acceptance for what has happened, and to feel a sense of belonging and love.  Because we are unable to answer their questions or solve their problems, we strive to accomplish this through the channels of peer support, nurturing adults to guide them, and a secure place to share themselves.

St. Patrick Parish Outreach is proud to announce the start of another year of Rainbows and Spectrum (the High School level).  Registration is now taking place.  Call Parish Outreach at 265-2668 for further information.
