St. Patrick's R.C. ChurchStained GlassThe SaintsWe are all called to be saints. That is, we are all called to our heavenly home with God. In the history of the world, there are a select few who, through a life of sacrifice, sanctity, service, love and faith in God, have achieved the beatific vision (the grace of being in the direct presence of God), and have recognized by the Church. These are the “Saints.” The Saints are an example of lives lived for the greater glory of God, and serve as an inspiration to all. By the grace of our Lord, they also can hear our prayers and intercede for us, lifting their voices of prayer for our intentions. The sacred art at St. Patrick’s honors Saints from the earlist days of the Church up to the present day. There can never be a time, when it is not possible to follow the path illuminated by Jesus and his Church. A tour of main stained glass windows dedicated to the saints starts in east transept. Here we find St. Peter the Apostle, and Mother Cabrini. Moving to the west transept we see St. Patrick and St. Therese of Lisieux. These are the largest (4’ by 9’) windows dedicated to the saints in the church. There are other smaller windows located in such areas as the west side entry. Here are windows dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Francis of Assisi. The vestibule entry also has two windows depicting St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina and Pope John Paul II. The Sign-in Room has a window depicting St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. |
